By train: Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, then trolleybus 3 (direction Salzburg Süd) to Faistauergasse, ~11 min, then 5 min on foot. Or taxi, ~10 min.

By car: A1, exit "Salzburg-Mitte". 🅿️ Parking in the garage of the Faculty of Natural Sciences is free of charge during the summit. The garage entrance is to the left of the main entrance.

By plane: Salzburg Airport (W. A. Mozart), 4 km, taxi ~12 min.

The venue sits in Freisaal, about 3 km south of the old town. Most sights close between 5 and 6 pm, so they fit best into the evenings and the day after the summit. The old town is at its best in the evening light anyway.

Public transport (Obus)

• Trolleybus lines 3 and 8 stop at Faistauergasse, a 5-minute walk from the venue. Line 3 also runs to the main station.
• Into the old town: about 10 minutes to Mozartsteg or Rathaus.
• Single ticket from the driver: € 3.00. 24-hour ticket: € 5.20 in the Salzburg Verkehr app or at a machine, € 6.40 from the driver. One ticket covers the whole city (core zone).
• Timetables and tickets: salzburg-verkehr.at or the Salzburg Verkehr app.

S-bike (e-bike sharing)

• Salzburg's new e-bike system: around 600 e-bikes at some 60 stations, mostly in the centre, along the main bus routes and at the university sites. Details: s-bike.at.
• Install the wegfinder app, register, scan the QR code on the bike.
• € 3 per 30 minutes. Maximum rental 4 hours. Return only at a marked S-bike station and end the ride in the app, otherwise a € 30 fee applies.
• Promo code ILIKESBIKE gives two free 30-minute rides.
• Old town by bike: about 10 minutes along the Salzach cycle path. No helmets are provided. The system is new in 2026 and stations are still being added, so check the app for the nearest one.

• Free one-time admission to the main sights (fortress including funicular, Mozart's birthplace and residence, Hellbrunn, DomQuartier, Museum der Moderne with the Mönchsberg lift, Salzach boat) plus unlimited public transport.
• 24 / 48 / 72 hours: € 38 / 45 / 49 for adults (April to October).
• Available online at salzburg.info, at hotel receptions and tourist information points.
• Pays off from about two sights plus bus rides in one day. If you plan a full sightseeing day, Sunday after the summit is the day for it.

Worth an evening

• Hohensalzburg Fortress: funicular from Festungsgasse, views over the city and the Alps.
• Old town walk: Getreidegasse, Residenzplatz, cathedral, then up to the Mönchsberg terrace by lift.
• Mirabell Gardens: free, 10 minutes from the main station, best in the late afternoon.
• Hellbrunn Palace and trick fountains: closer to the venue than the old town. 30 minutes on foot or 10 by bike along the Hellbrunner Allee, or bus 25.
• Beer gardens: Augustiner Bräu in Mülln (large beer hall, self-service, cash) or Stiegl-Brauwelt for the brewery tour.
• Salzach towpath: the riverside path from the venue into town is good for a run or a walk.

Good to know

• Shops close on Saturday evening and stay closed on Sunday. Museums and restaurants are open.
• Card payment is common, but small cafés and beer gardens sometimes take cash only.
• Tap water is drinking water. Tipping: round up by 5 to 10 %.
• September: mild, around 10 to 20 °C, rain possible. Bring a light jacket.
